About
Hi I'm Julee Cowher, teacher in the Dragonfly Classroom. Thank you for reading about me and the special kids I get to learn from everyday. Below are a few details to help you get to know me better.
I have been teaching in the Brighton Area Schools for the past 23 years. I started my teaching career a little differently than most. Before entering the traditional classroom setting I trained to be a naturalist and worked in nature centers for several years before deciding that I wanted to have a classroom family of my own. After earning my BA in early childhood education at U of M Dearborn I began working for BAS in 1996 teaching kindergarten, junior kindergarten and elementary science .
I live in Brighton with my husband and two kids, Ashley and Nick. Our oldest, Ashley, graduated from Brighton High School and is taking classes at Washtenaw Community College. Our son Nick keeps us busy with his love of sports and will be in the 9th grade at Kensington Woods High School. As you probably guessed from my background above I love to be outside hiking, biking and kayaking. I also like to garden, paint/draw, and practice yoga. When I walk my dog Bailee I like to let my mind wander and wonder and believe strongly in allowing kids in my classroom to have time to do this as well. I look forward to learning and growing with you and your child this year.
